Thank you to all who attended our 1st PTO meeting of the 2024-2025 school year! We had nearly 50 parents and caregivers join us! This meeting always tends to run a bit long as there are many votes needed and topics to cover. Please be assured we will try to keep the future meetings to an hour -we understand that many parents are busy and tired in the evenings and we’d like to be respectful of your time. 

Some key highlights:

    • We approved a budget for $55,000 for the 2024-2025 school year. Key spends include $30,000 on enrichments (in school and field trips), and nearly $10,000 on the staff fund and teacher closet! 
    • Treasurer’s Reminder: If you volunteer for an event and need a reimbursement for products purchased, please submit this with receipts (via email or paper) to the treasurer within 30 days to keep all bookkeeping current.
    • We are re-sharing our survey that was posted on Facebook over the summer. We also will be posting a poll on Facebook about what meeting days and times work for you. Please take a moment to share your preferences via the survey or poll- we only had 25 responses this summer and would love to hear from more of you! Currently meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7pm. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, October 8 at 7pm (in person and zoom).
    • Principal’s Report: Coffee hour with Mr. Weymer will be starting soon and will include morning and afternoon meeting times. This is a place to ask questions and hear from him what is happening in the school.
    • Volunteer forms and Direct Drive Donation forms have been sent home with students. Click the links here to donate on the website, scan the QR codes on the document to pay via PayPal or fill out the paper form and email them to robinhoodpto@gmail.com or send them in with your students.

Committees:

    • Kindergarten orientation, first day clap-in, parent PTO treat, and back to school picnic were all a success! If you have any feedback or suggestions for these events for next year, we’d love to hear them! Please email the PTO or speak with one of us directly!
    • We will no longer be having used book sales in the school. We will be selling the used books to a local bookstore and that money will go back to the RH Library to purchase new books. Going forward, we will have a “lending library” at the school where kids can put books in that they are done reading or take a book out that they want to read, no money needed.
    • Halloween Trunk or Treat! Based on feedback from the community the Trunk or Treat will be held on Sunday October 27 from 2-4pm in the afternoon to ensure safety in the daylight. Corinne Prigo and Amanda Tsapastaris have graciously volunteered to help run this event but we need to have the community step up to decorate their trunks to make this successful. Please be on the lookout for more information/volunteer opportunities to come!

Fundraising:

    • Direct Drive: always an option to donate one time (and possibly be matched by some companies). Forms will be attached in the comments
    • Rebecca’s Nut Free Cookies: Thank you Tiffany for chairing this! The sales are open until October 4 and there will be samples at back to school night next week! You can order online via https://shop.rebeccasnutfree.com/robinhoodelementary/fall2024?a=17 or on paper forms sent home with your students.
    • Calaresso’s: We will be selling gift certificates in $10 increments and get $2.50 back for each one. The sale will be Sep 30-Oct 18and the certificates will go home on Friday Oct 25 and/or Monday Oct 28.
    • Spirit Wear: Get your RH and Stoneham gear and accessories via the online store. The store will close on Sept 15 at midnight and orders will be shipped to the school or your home 3 weeks from then (week of Oct 6).
    • Mabel’s Label’s: Get your personalized labels for all your kids school or sports gear! We get 20% back from all purchases (make sure you choose Robin Hood PTO).
    • Box Tops for Education: Please sign up for the app using our referral code SDJU8V1M and follow along on facebook for any monthly bonus deals! Any one (like family members) can sign up and use the app
    • Dave and Busters: In November we will be selling $10 and $20 Power Cards which can be used in their arcade. We get back 50% of the money and these could be great Holiday gifts or Birthday gifts!

Community Awareness:
Please keep an eye out for drives throughout the next few months such as Socks for Seniors, Food Pantry donations, Giving Tree during the holidays, and Candy for our Troops as ways to give back to the community.

    • Upcoming Events:
      SCHOOL PICTURES: Monday, September 16 and makeups are Friday November 8th. 
    • Back to School Night: Tuesday, September 17 6:30-8pm for parents/caregivers to meet their student’s teachers and learn about the school community. Please stop by the PTO table and enter the 50/50 raffle as well as sample Rebecca’s Cookies!
    • Friday, Sept 27 and Friday, Oct 4 are both HALF DAYS!
    • Trunk or Treat: Sunday, Oct 27 2-4pm. Please help volunteer!
